I already told you about our rock climbing in Auckland, but what I didn't mention was the fantastic feeling of freedom witch you get when you travel alone. Just an amazing weekend, and I'm really happy that I know now how the public transport works (or doesent work...) in here.

Kerroinkin jo seinäkiipeilystämme Aucklandissa, mutta en ole vielä sanonut mitään siitä ihanasta vapauden tunteesta, jonka yksin matkustamisesta saa. Kaikenkaikkiaan olen tuon mahtavan viikonlopun jälkeen paljon itsevarmempi mitä tulee yksin matkustamiseen Uudessa Seelannissa :)

   Father' s Day, my host dad's birthday and host brother's birthday happen to all be in close to each other all inside two week time! So lot's of parties here :D I made a birthday and a Father's Day card to my host dad and luckily for me Freya organized all the presents we bought together to Greg and Matai, so I was saved for worrying what to get to them.

Isäinpäivä, host isän syntymäpäivä ja host veljen syntymäpäivä sattuvat kaikki kahden viikon sisään. Askartelin itse isänpäivä ja Gregin syntymäpäiväkortit, jaminun onnekseni Freya organisoi lahjat, johon kaikki osallistuimme, mikä säästi minut isolta stressiltä.

Gregin synttäreiden kunniaksi menimme koko perheen voimin ulos syömään aamupalaa ja sain tavata Gregin vanhemmat.

 I've been busy since drama takes more time after school before the premier next Friday and because I joined the local gym. I've really enjoyed both, since drama is always lots of fun with friends and the gym is great! The guy who owns the gym is also really helpful and I got a full work out program.

Kiirettä on pitänyt kun drama vie enemmän ja enemmän aikaa iltapäivisin ennen ensi perjantain ensi-iltaa ja liityinpä tuossa kuntosalin asiakkaaksikin. Mutta sehän ei haittaa kun molemmat ovat mieluista puuhaa. Draamassa on aina hauskaa kavereitten kanssa ja sali on loistava! Salin omistaja on klpaileva painonnostaja, jolla on ohuet valkeat ja pitkät kiukset sekä tekojalka. Hän on myös hauska ja avulias kaveri, ja sain myös minulle räätälöidyn sali ohjelma. Ainut varjopuoli on se, että sali on melko kallis.

 This Wednesday was really exiting since I got to go and listen junior speach contest. And wow! Those kids are so good! I also had to keep a speach of my own after them (no presure) and talk about
Rotary, youth exchange and Finland.
Tänä torstai iltana jännitystä tarjosi alakoulujen puhe-kilpailu. Ja wau miten taitavia nuo lapset olivat! Jouduin itsekkin pitämään puheen lasten jälkeen (ei siis paineita) Rotarysta, nuorisovaihdosta ja Suomesta.

Rock climing with rotary people

So few weeks ago Krystal organized a rock climbing evening for exchange students in Auckland. I was lucky enough to have day off from school and therefore I managed to get to Auckland that Friday. I got a lift there from my host mum's friend and I spent the night with rotarians Bob and Sue Benzie (thank you again). Next day I went to Whangarei by buss and spent few hours there shopping and swimming (pools are still closed in Dargaville) before I got a lift back home by another friend of my host mum's.

Muutama viikko sitten kävin seinäkiipeilemässä Aucklandissa muutaman muun vaihtarin kanssa. Minulla sattui olemaan vapapäivä koulusta, ja siksi onnistuin pääsemään Aucklandiin tuona perjantaina. Sain kyydin sinne host-äidin ystävältä ja vietin yön rotary pariskunnan kotona. Seuraavana päivänä matkustin bussilla Whangareihin, missä vietin muutaman tunnin shoppaillen ja uiden ennen kun sain kyydin kotiin toiselta host-äidin ystävältä. 

Climbing is actually really hard so after we got tired we somehow ended up into children's adventure land which was such a cool place.
Kiipeily on itseasiassa tosi rankkaa ja väsyttyämme päädyimme lasten seikkailu maahan.

Father's Day special / hyvää isänpäivää

 There is a special day, every year, that we dedicate to one of the most important person in our life: dad. On that day we should remember how important that person is to us. He takes care of us when we're little, he's fun to play with, he takes us to our hobbies and is interested in our sports in a way no one else could. He's the one who always has our back and who loves us no matter what. He's also the one that makes the best jokes (sometimes about us) and the one we never know what to buy for presents. Presents are for to tell dad how much he means to us. Of course it would be too embarrassing to also say it out loud but to be honest things like that don't really need saying with dad, he already knows. But maybe just this one day we might swallow our bride and say: I love you dad, and I want to thank you for everything you've done for me.

Now as for host fathers, they're the greatest dad's in the world! All my host dads have children of their own, and yet they agree to take another one to bee taken care of. They let him/her in to their home, feed her, take her to rugby games and other things, make jokes about her, and take her as a part of their family. And they do all this without expecting to gain anything from it to themselves! That's a pretty amazing thing to do! I want to say a BIG thank you to all my host dads and tell them how much I appreciate them and admire what they do.

Joka vuosi omistamme yhden erityisen päivän yhdelle elämämme tärkeimmistä henkilöistä: isälle. Tänä päivänä meidän tulisi muistaa, kuinka paljon tuo henkilö meille merkitsee. Hän huolehtii meistä kun olemme pieniä, on parasta leikkiseuraa, vie meitä harrastuksiin ja on kiinnostunut urheilustamme tavalla, johon kukaan muu ei kykene. Hän on se johon voimme aina luottaa, se joka on aina meidän puolellamme ja joka rakastaa meitä tapahtuupa mitä hyvänsä. Hänellä on myös parhaat vitsit (jotka välillä koskevat meitä) ja hänelle on kaikkein vaikein ostaa lahjoja. Lahjojen idea on kertoa isälle, kuinka paljon hän meille merkitsee. Tietysti sen sanominen ääneen olisi aivan liian noloa, mutta onneksi tälläisiä asioita ei tarvitse sanoa isälle, hän kyllä tietää sanomattakin. Mutta ehkä tänä erityisenä päivänä voisimme niellä ylpeytemme ja sanoa: Iskä oot rakas ja oon kiitollinen kaikesta mitä oot mun puolesta tehnyt.
 Minä näin oman iskän viimeksi lentokentällä. Muita en sinne huolinutkaan. Iskä ei heittäytynyt ylidramaattiseksi, ei mitään itkuja tai pitkiä jäähyväisiä, vaan simppeli hali ja hyvää vuotta. Iskään voi aina luottaa! Edes ajomatka Helsinkiin ei ollut mitenkään kiusallinen, olenhan tottunut ajelemaan iskän kanssa ympäri Suomea uintikisojen perässä. Iskän kanssa ajelu on aina mukavaa, varsinkin kisojen jälkeen. Iskä, tänävuonna en tehnyt sulle korttia tai ostanut lahjaa, mutta aattele tätä blogi tekstiä mun korttina. Hyvää isänpäivää, oot rakas, nähään ens kesänä!
