I've climbed the highest mountain... -Tongariro Crossing

Another amazing weekend with rotary at Tongariro national park.
Tongariro national park is the first national park in New Zealand and 4th in the world. We left from Auckland on Thursday. On Friday we climbed Mt Ruapehu and saw the beautiful crater lake. We did get a chair lift to two kilometers but the hike still took hours. Mt Ruapehu has the two largest ski fields in New Zealand Whakapapa and Turoa where I was skiing last August. Friday was also my 18th birthday and we had a really cool blue cake. On Saturday we did the Tongariro Crossing which is pretty much 19 kilometers of absolutely beautiful landscape from active volcanic rocky scenery to an alpine meadow until the track finally dives into forest. Also the students who where willing to take the challenge could climb up Mt Ngauruhoe  midway of the crossing, so we ended up doing all the three mountains in two days! It was hard but definitely worth it! Ngauruhoe is the youngest and recently most active volcano in NZ.  (By the way Mt Ngauruhoe is the Mounain of Doom in Lord of the Rings!)

Lauantaina teimme itse Tongariron ylityksen. Ngauruhoe on muuten Taru sormusten herrasta -elokuvien Tuomionvuori!

Here we go again...

Kia ora!
Sorry I haven't got the time to post for a while been busy-ass. I have a new host-family, which is again totally different from my other families. I live a bit closer to town on a lifestyle-blog with a host mum and dad, host sister and brother, a cat and a dog. The family is baptist and goes to church every Sunday which is something very new for me. Also the church is totally different from our Lutheran church which means I'm even more out of my comfort cone there. But I'll get used to it! (or at least I'll try) The family also has a big extended family, which means I've been to a couple of birthday parties of their cousins. I have to say it's an interesting experience to celebrate a birthday of a person you've never met before with people you don't know! The family is very nice and I have a cute pink room, so all good anyway!
I was right when I guessed school would be better this year. Now I'm taking drama, sport&rec, P.E, maths (calculus) and biology and I'm really happy with those choices. Soon after school started I joined Dargaville's swimming club. Even though I'm not competing anymore I like to have something to do after school and it's great to have some exercise. We also had swimming sports at school on the second week and I had so much fun competing after long break! (since I didn't really need to take it seriously) and I won the swimming champion-title of senior girls and did two new records to school, so I actually had a little too much fun! :D The fact that our house won the overall points made the day pretty perfect. I'm also kind of excited to compete at the Northland championships, since I'll get a chance to meet some competitive swimmers there, even though I know I won't be really good after my 1,5 years brake from swimming.
I've been to Auckland couple of times during these past weeks. We went to help my host family's oldest daughter and son to move flats and on our way back we went to Jump which is basically a room full of trampolines! last week I was at Auckland with two other exchange students from Dargaville, and we went to a scary house Spookers and a Doctor Who concert.
Last three days we had a buddy-camp with school. It was really nice but I didn't get much sleep in a tent!
Here's some pics for you ;)

Kia ora!

There's a lot of gay-right things going on in Auckland

Rosa's Birthday at Spookers

Silvia made that scarf herself!
What's the point of growing up if you can't be childish sometimes?

Loving my new colorful school shirts^^

And this would be Penny, my new best friend
