My mad March

Whoah... It's been a mad month and by that I mean super busy. I just can't believe another school term in New Zealand is over and I only have three months left of this amazing and little bit crazy adventure! Right now the best thing to do is just enjoy these last months here and not think too much about going home because I have really mixed feelings about that. Part of me is really exited of going home and seeing my family and friends and dog again, but at the same time New Zealand does feel like a home to me too and I don't want to leave...
Anyway three months is a long time so no reason to worry yet! Here's a summary of what's been going on on my mad March.

Swimming:
After school's championships were the Northland interschool championships. A bit more official meet but still heaps of fun!
I trained with Dargaville swimming team the whole March and enjoyed it heaps. The season finished at the end of March and the swimming pool is once again closed. The swimming team had a prize giving night and I got some nice trophies (I can keep the small one and get my name to the others) We're hopefully gonna start training in the high school pool after a little break.

My birthday was on March the 13th and I already told about the Tongariro crossing in a separate post.

My Rotary club, and therefore me too, were doing parking in Northland Field days. Well actually I was helping with the parking for one morning and got to go and walk around the area for the rest of the day. Field Days are this big annual farming fair with a lot of tractors and other farm stuff but also food and all sorts of interesting things:

My host family took me and two of my friends (who are also exchange students) to Whangarei. First we visited my host family's kiwi fruit orchard and then went shopping to town.

School's been busy too. I had to write seven-page essay in P.E (!) and biology is not that easy when using one's second language... I still love drama, especially because our teacher decided to move our practical assignment to second term which gives us some needed extra time to practice. I'm also participating in school's musical production in a small role (I don't sing). And ofcourse there's always maths...

Whit sport&rec class we've been doing snorkeling and free-diving and we did this very cool survival camp which I'm also telling more about in a separate post. We did a free-diving trip to Kai Iwi lakes and it was awesome. At first a was really afraid of diving deep and the pressure was just horrible but by the end of the day I finally got comfortable with that mad mad sport and managed to dive to 18 meters which was the deepest of our class! I might have dived deeper if we hadn't accidentally drifted into shallower waters so I actually hit the bottom of the lake at 18 meters. It was a very cool experience but I got my eyes quite badly bruised because of the pressure. (I'm not posting the photo of my eyes because I don't wish to upset anyone, for example my mom ;-) )

I'm feeling at home in my new host-family which obviously means that I'm changing families again in two weeks time :( It's been great living with them and I'm gonna miss them heaps. Surprisingly I've also got used to going to baptist church which is very different from the Lutheran church I've grown up with. It's been great to actually see how another christian church works. After all, this church is one of those churches I've learned in school or seen in pictures and it has been interesting to get a chance to participate its worships. I've learned a lot about Christianity and even about my own faith while living with this family.
On Easter our youth group went to this huge christian Easter camp with 5000 other people and it was awesome! Here's a short video summary from Sunday morning service where everybody were wearing one-zies, how cool is that?!
