The road goes ever on and on, Down to the door where it began...

Looks like my blog is turning into a picture blog...Well a picture tells more than a thousand words they say ;)

Blogini on näköjään pikkuhiljaa muuttumassa kuva-blogiksi, mutta sehän ei haittaa jos kuva kerran kertoo enemmän kuin tuhat sanaa ;)

Still I feel I should tell something about the past few weeks. I finished school for this year since I'm not doing the external exams. Last weeks of school were still busy, since I had few assignments to return, clothes to choose for two mufty (casual clothes) days, a cross fit challenge (which included 100 burpees!) and I went to see senior price giving.

My last weekend with the Newmans was really nice. We went shopping to Whangarei with Tracy and Freya, and we all went to a bit different rugby game which was played for the Kaihu rugby 100 years celebrations. (I think the pictures tell the rest) During the after game socialisation Freya took me to the beautiful Kai Iwi lakes. For my good bye dinner we made curry with Tracy and we had another special dinner for Freya's birthday.

I changed hos families just before the school finished. It was harder than what I expected. I was really sad to leave the Newmans, since that place had started to feel like home. I was also surprisingly nervous to go to Conns. Luckily that nervousness was completely unnecessary and I really like my new home :) We also have some plans for the summer holidays that are really exciting but lets talk about those a bit later ;) Hopefully we have time to do those things, since my summer is starting to look really busy with Rotary.

Conns own a huge farm, which is a bit different for a city girl even though I've had some time to adapt the country side. Soon after I moved in we went to milk cows whit my host-sister. That was definitely an interesting experience! I think I did alright considering I've never even been that close to a cow before, not to mention touched one! The job was really dirty (cows pooed on us) and the cows kicked, but I actually had fun! :D
Big farm is a great place to run. But even more exciting than that is that Dargavilles swimming pool is finally open! Water was icy cold especially on the first week, but otherwise the pool is fantastic!

Bob Benzie (district youth coordinator) invited the inpound students to Auckland to see fireworks at the stadium. I also went shopping earlier that day with two STS exchange students in Auckland because we got a ride from our chemistry teacher.

I went back to Auckland this week to have picnic with other Rotarians. On Wednesday some of us took the bus to Kerikeri where Max had invited us. His host parents have a big house and other houses in their area which they're trying to sell and we got an accommodation from one of these. It as quite nice with big class windows and a swimming pool(!) Max's host dad and another Rotarian gave us a tour to some historical places near Kerikeri and the Bay of Islands. We saw the oldest house in New Zealand, and went to the first capital of the country, Russel. We also did a morning walk at 6.30 am. Don't ask, it was supposed to be a good memory or something...On Saturday morning Max ran a half marathon in a big event and we met a Finnish exchange student who also run the marathon and I realized how rusty my Finnish is getting :D

When I came back to Dargaville I got a cold so last few days I've been sleeping a lot and drinking tea with honey. Next Friday is the day all the exchange students in districts 9910, 9920 and 9930 have been waiting for: the south island trip starts! (well actually 9930 is joining us on Saturday) So my next post should be around mid December. Until then kia ora and see you soon! :*

Well, this could've been worse... Moving family for the first time

I left a little card to my bedrooms table on a hand made picture frame where I used sea sells from Mahia. I'm really happy that I left my little note like this, because when it was time to leave I could hardly say "thank you so much" with my voice cracking
I love this photo 'cause it's so casual. Greg and the boys are in a hurry to quash and Freya has just came back from work. This is taken just before I left.
