In a hole in the ground...

“It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.” -JRR Tolkien
Well what comes to me I was swept off to the other side of the world and for a brief moment all the way to the Middle Earth.

What comes to Hobbiton it's definitely a place worth a visit if you happen to come to New Zealand. I found myself wondering all the amazing details and the tour guides can tell you all sorts of interesting things about the filming. If you do decide to go try to book in the first or the last tour of the day, because otherwise the place is packed with people which makes photographing rather difficult.

Before we go to any farther in Hobbiton pics here's a picture from the airport where we say goodbye to Dani, who's year is over and she went back to Chile. We're all gonna miss her very much <3
"Roads go ever ever on,
Over rock and under tree,
By caves where never sun has shone,
By streams that never find the sea;
Over snow by winter sown,
And through the merry flowers of June,
Over grass and over stone,
And under mountains in the moon.
Roads go ever ever on
Under cloud and under star,
Yet feet that wandering have gone
Turn at last to home afar."
-JRR Tolkien
Yes I'm going to keep quoting Tolkien this hole text, I think just this ones I may do so without being too annoying.  I do hope that you forgive me the number of pictures, since it took me a great deal of self-discipline not to download all the 300 of them.

“A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.” Do you recognise the place?

“This is a story of how a Baggins had an adventure, and found himself doing and saying things altogether unexpected.”

Hobbiton, Shire
“Why O why did I ever leave my hobbit-hole?" said poor Mr. Baggins
“I am looking for someone to share in an adventure that I am arranging, and it's very difficult to find anyone."

"We're plain, quiet folk and have no use for adventures. Nasty, disturbing, uncomfortable things, they make you late for dinner.”

“Elves and Dragons! Cabbages and potatoes are better for me and you. Don't go getting mixed up in the business of your betters, or you'll land in trouble too big for you."
With host -sister and -mom

“There is nothing like looking, if you want to find something. You certainly usually find something, if you look, but it is not always quite the something you were after.”
“Fantasy is escapist, and that is its glory."
“Already he was a very different hobbit from the one that had run out without a pocket-handkerchief from Bag-End long ago. He had not had a pocket-handkerchief for ages.”
“Go back?" he thought. "No good at all! Go sideways? Impossible! Go forward? Only thing to do! On we go!" So up he got, and trotted along with his little sword
“Don't the great tales never end?"
"No, they never end as tales," said Frodo. "But the people in them come, and go when their part's ended."

“Courage is found in unlikely places.”

That looks like my second breakfast...

“If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.”

“The wide world is all about you: you can fence yourselves in, but you cannot for ever fence it out.”

You can see Green Dragon from here! And sheep that cannot be seen in the movies since Peter Jackson considered them "too modern" so the farmers had to move them every morning of filming

“I want to be a healer, and love all things that grow and are not barren.”

“Do you wish me a good morning, or mean that it is a good morning whether I want it or not; or that you feel good this morning; or that it is a morning to be good on?”
Bag End!

There were different sized Hobbit holes so that the characters who were supposed to look small could be filmed in front of big doors and the characters that were supposed to look big in front of small ones.

“Even the smallest person can change the course of the future”

“He found himself wondering at times, especially in the autumn, about the wild lands, and strange visions of mountains that he had never seen came into his dreams.”

“Home is now behind you, the world is ahead!”

Did I mention how I loved the details?

This is of course where Bilbo celebrated his eleventy-first birthday
Visiting Samwise Gamgee

“And now leave me in peace for a bit! I don't want to answer a string of questions while I am eating. I want to think!"

"Good Heavens!" said Pippin. "At breakfast?”

                                       The party three
"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

Going to the Green Dragon for a drink
I felt like a hobbit underneath those big trees

“Short cuts make long delays.”

Welcome to the Green Dragon!

“Little by little, one travels far”
“A single dream is more powerful than a thousand realities.”

“Time doesn't seem to pass here: it just is.”
“It was at this point that Bilbo stopped. Going on from there was the bravest thing he ever did. The tremendous things that happened afterward were as nothing compared to it. He fought the real battle in the tunnel alone, before he ever saw the vast danger that lay in wait.”

“Never laugh at live dragons"
Green Dragon!
The mill (and me)

Two hobbits arriving to Green Dragon

"The greatest adventure is what lies ahead.
Today and tomorrow are yet to be said.
The chances, the changes are all yours to make.
The mold of your life is in your hands to break."
Pippin: A mug of ale in my hand, putting my feet up on a settle after a hard day's work. Merry: Only, you've never done a hard day's work.
Oh you can search far and wide,
You can drink the whole town dry,
But you'll never find a beer so brown,
As the one we drink in our hometown.

You can drink your fancy ales,
You can drink them by the flagon,
But the only brew for the brave and true,
Comes from the Green Dragon!!

Ho! Ho! Ho! To the bottle I go

To heal my heart and drown my woe.

Rain may fall and wind may blow,

And many miles be still to go

But under a tall tree I will lie,
And let the clouds go sailing by
"The world is not in your books and maps, it’s out there"

"All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost”
“For still there are so many things
that I have never seen:
in every wood in every spring
there is a different green.”

"Some believe that it is only great power that can hold evil in check. But that is not what I've found. I found it is the small things. Every day deeds by ordinary folk that keeps the darkness at bay."
Beautiful hobbit garden, also the same garden which Bilbo runs through in his hurry to catch the company of dwarves

“Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower, leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!
“In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort.”
