South Island Tour, part 1

How should I describe three weeks that might very well been one of the best of my life. There's so much to tell that it would take ages to write about everything we did. That's why I'm once again relying on pictures, though there will be heaps of those as well. What comes to text I'll simply settle for telling simple facts of what we did. Before I start I want to mention that besides all cool stuff that we did the best part wasn't the scenery, not the extreme sports, not the sight seeing tours, not the Routeburn-track, not the two day biking on a railway and not even the bungy-jump, it was the people that I had the privilege to spend those amazing three weeks with. Thank you :)
Tällä kertaa en suomenna, kuvat puhukoot puolestaan ;) Kolmen viikon Etelä-Saare reissusta on siis kyse ja kuvia on paljon!

Bus started from Whangarei with 5 passengers. We pict up others from districts 9910 and 9920 on our way down and stopped overnight at a Marae located at the middle of North Island. We got to help to sift some cattle and managed to chase a cow into a fence. The next day our trip continued to windy Wellington where we had a free evening. That was also the first time we had our whole group together. (Expect Diego who joined us at South Island after his trip to China)
Some sight seeing on the way (and our bus)

In the bus

Windy Welly

This lovely creature is Alice who made amazing job with her go-pro and editing skills and performed a video about our trip which I'll most certainly will be linking here when she puts it on You Tube.

"I live at the edge of the universe like everybody else." Whatever that means...

Quite randomly we ended up visiting Sea Shepherd boat which was surprisingly interesting

It's quite impressing what Sea shepherd does, check out their web page for more information: http://www.seashepherd.org/

Next morning we took early ferry from Wellington to Picton and our adventures at the South Island could finally begin.

Goodbye North Island...

...and hello South Island!

First thing we did when we arrived to Picton was hop on kayaks and battle for about four hours to the Mistletoe Bay where we spent our night (beautiful place) and the next day we had to kayak all the way back... Touching a jellyfish was definitely my highlight on the water.
Not my pic since I didn't dare to take any sort of electrical devices with me in the wobbly kayak. Credits to Paul :)

Mistletoe Bay

Sunburned, tired and salt water in our eyes and who knows where...

...we were quite ready for lunch

Next night we stayed at Nelson Lake Motel and some of us went for a swim.

Someone needed to take care of Finns reputation since Annika wouldn't swim
